Academic Leadership and Institutional Direction:

Using Evidence to Understand How Priorities Take Shape

Resources from our March 24th Webinar

The discussion focused on how provosts are weighing competing signals, clarifying institutional strengths, and framing difficult tradeoffs in a constrained environment. Penn State Provost Fotis Sotiropoulos shared grounded examples from his experience that resonated with many in attendance.

Participants reflected on several themes throughout the discussion:

  • Data is for conversations, not verdicts

  • Costly mediocrity is to be avoided

  • Consistency and clarity lead to alignment

  • “This is your last chance to prove me wrong”

We hope these resources are valuable as you consider how academic priorities are defined and supported within your institution. Academic Analytics is proud to support AAU institutions in advancing informed, strategic decision-making.
